The Creator

Ameya Handicraft Industries is the brainchild of Shri. Arun Dabholkar, a painter par-excellence.

Shri. Arun Dabholkar perhaps needs no introduction to the art lover. A wonderful painter, a devoted family person, a dynamic traveller and now a skillful entrepreneur, are all the majorly visible shades of this colorful personality.

Making the beginning of his journey from a very humble and rustic background, Arunji has come a long way today. From a not-so-well-to-do family, he saw dreams full of color and paints at a very tender age of seven whilst in the company of skillful painters who happened to be his neighbours. With no one keen to encourage his dreams at home, Arunji embarked upon a lonely and tough journey in quest of creating art.

God smiled upon him then!

Playing with inks and colors once, Arunji saw a divine intervention taking place in front of his eyes! From the fine dots and lines was created the divine form of 'Ganesh', the most loved and revered religious deity in India. Then on began his very creative and productive tryst with destiny. This divine intervention saw Shri. Dabholkar create Ganesh paintings literally in thousands of forms and faces, making him not just famous in Maharashtra but also on the national level as well as the international level. His Ganesh drawings have earned him the nickname of 'Ganapatiwale Dabholkar'.

In a journey spanning over 25 years in the field of painting and art, Arunji has created paintings in the form of greeting cards, nature drawings, personal sketches, deities, birds, flowers et al. This very long and consistently creative art quest of his has earned him not just the appreciation and adulation of the general public but awards and accolades from the government and art critics as well.

Today his mission is to spread the joy of art and colors to all nooks and corners of the world. Ameya Handicraft Industry was born out of this need. Operating out of his studio at Vengurla and the small scale unit at Kudal, both in the Konkan region, Shri. Arun Dabholkar has taken it upon himself to be a pioneer in the field of supply of paintings as gift articles at an affordable price to make the beauty and joy of colors reach every home. He is ably supported by his family in this quest.
